AT43

Just a quick post here about some Sci Fi stuff that Mark and I have been playing. The figures are from the old AT43 range which I have like always bought way too many from the five main factions. The rules used are the very fun and easy to use Gruntz II. Figures on display are from the UNA and Karman factions who are big space gorillas in flyers and power armour.

Force on Force

Mark and I played our first game of Force on Force Thursday night using his great terrain and figure collection. The scenario was based upon the scene in the movie 'Black Hawk Down' where the young American private falls from the helicopter when avoiding an RPG round.

The game starts with two American 5 man infantry squads and one 2 man M60 team trying to get the injured soldier off the table. The Somali Militia reinforcements are randomly rolled for and come on in random positions but can move very fast when out of sight of the American.

The game played quickly once we got used to the turn sequence and did not go well for the small US force who suffered serious casualties. I look forward to playing the other scenarios in the FOF 'Day of the Rangers' book.

Fow desert raid

Mark and I played a fantastic desert raid with his 20mm collection at the club several weeks ago and I show it here for your enjoyment. The photos are not that clear due to the lighting in the hall but the game was so much fun not to show.

The German controlled airfield started the game without defenders but with 5 objectives to be destroyed by the LRDG (me).  In turn 1 the LRDG advanced onto the airfield started shooting up the 3 aircraft & 2 small buildings.  No German reinforcements.

 

Turn 1-3 LRDG successfully destroyed the objectives and started to pull back.  German received 2 Sdkfz 222 armoured cars who caught the tail of one LRDG patrol causing a vehicle to bail out and effectively slowing the whole unit.  German (Scott) roll for darkness (I had nominated raiding at dusk) and down went the sign (max 8’ move & roll for observation).

 

Turns 4-14 LRDG slowed by moving at night managed to get 1 unit and the HQ off but the Germans managed to trap one patrol in the corner of the table on 3 sides ! eventually wiping it out.

 

Great game – played well.

Freemans Farm 40mm AWI

Hey guys Mark Piper and I played a small AWI Regimental Fire and fury game Thursday night. The rules using the play sheet downloaded from the forum played very quickly and smoothly and seemed to make sense throughout. I have played British Grenadier before and I must say that RFF seemed to give the same flvour and feel and I look forward to more games using our combined 40mm collection. Mark owns the Continentals and I own the British, both sides bought for a very price from thatperennial pusher of lead Andrew Parr. Mark and I have lots of unpainted figures so eventually we can do some very large games.

The figures are on very large bases which Andrew used and we like the look of them and will not change the size. Thebases equate to two RFF bases and reepresent 40 men per base.
